The Girl Who Played with Fire by Stieg Larsson
The second book of Stieg Larsson's trilogy dives right into the life of computer hacker Lisbeth Salander, who is still recovering from the events that have just taken place with journalist Mikel Blomkovist. Although she does her best to avoid the man who is known for his detective work, their paths intermingle once again as Lisbeth Salander becomes the prime suspect in the murder investigation of Blomkovist's two friends. Lisbeth's mysterious nature is unconvered as all of Sweden learns about the girl who is thought to be a murderer. The plot is very fast paced and interesting, so much so that it's impossible to put down. It's not necessarily a light read, but it is intelligent and suspenseful, making it enjoyable for both genders. The content is very mature, but there are heartwarming moments as you become attached to the characters. The novel is a thriller, and there are several sub-plots that revolve around the big question: Who is Lisbeth Salander and what is she truly capable of? - Danielle S., class of 2012
