Hunger Games

Katniss Everdeen grew up in a poor district of a new country in North America, called Panem. Every year, they hold the Hunger Games to punish the districts for a failed attempt at a revolution. Two people are taken from each of the twelve districts to compete in a fight to the death, and the winners get their districts extra rations. This first book of a three book series explores Katniss Everdeen's experience with the Hunger Games and how it changed her life. The characters are interesting and a very interesting love triangle forms between three characters. Also, Katniss' strong character leads her to make heroic, exciting decisions. I think anyone 13 and up would enjoy this book and that anyone should read it before the movie comes out. The dramatic, vicious scenes will compell to keep wanting to read the next two books. They all build off of the first! - Nick N., class of 2012
